According to the Webster Dictionary, the word normal is defined as conforming to a standard; usual, typical, or expected. Growing up in Detroit, Michigan it was normal to travel into Canada if only for a change of scenery and you just needed your Identification such as an I.D. card or Driver's license. After 9/11, the normal became needing a passport to travel into Canada. When we experience life-changing situations, we must adjust and embrace a new normal.
They say, change is good, but I say if the change is rooted in Truth and that is what God would approve of then the change is good. The goal is still to submit to the will of God and that will require a new mind. The King James Bible says, "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." (Romans 12:2). The New Living Translation says, "Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect." (Romans 12:2).
In a lot of situations, politics seems to be what drives some Churches, some Mosques, some Temple, some social groups, some organizations, some businesses, and some institutions but this behavior needs to stop. Choosing someone to hold a position based on how much money they give, how much money they have, who they know, who they are connected to is selling the seat to the highest bidder and the beginning deterioration of those groups. What about the guiding principles in the by-laws? We need a new mind that will not succumb to the status quo. According to Webster's dictionary, the word status quo is defined as the existing situation, especially regarding social or political issues. We must rid every place that remembers God of the mindset of pay to play. That normal must go.
