Black History Events: March - April 2021

Crisis or Not?

According to dictionary.com, the word crisis is defined as a time of intense difficulty, trouble, or danger; a time when a difficult or important decision must be made. When you look up the word intense, it states it is having or showing strong feelings or opinions; extremely earnest or serious; of extreme force, degree, or strength.

Are you in crisis? How? Are people in your family in crisis? How? Is your community in crisis? How? If you answered yes to any of the above questions, what are you going to do about it? How are you going to address an intense difficulty? Where will you start? Who will you call first? Hopefully, you will pray to God (Allah) first and seek His guidance. The Bible says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. (Philippians 4:6)

During times of crisis, it's essential to remember the importance of community and connection, especially within African American events that celebrate Black history. These gatherings can provide support and strength. To read more, visit ScoopUSA Media - March 30, 2021 - page 15.

Generation X

A generation is defined as all of the people born and living at about the same time, regarded collectively; the average period, generally considered to be about thirty years, during which children are born and grow up, become adults, and begin to have children of their own. Regardless of what generation you belong to, there is an 'X' or unknown part of your life yet to be discovered, and we need the chance to live without the threat of violence, whether from accidents or intentional acts. The tragic outcome remains the same: life is cut short because of choices made by others. All of the Prophets and men of God (Allah) started as children, including Jesus. In the context of African American events and Black history, each generation carries its own unique struggles and achievements. According to www.mathsisfun.com, “The letter 'x' is often used in Algebra to mean a value that is not yet known. It is called a 'variable' or sometimes an 'unknown.' In x+2=7, x is a variable, but we can work out its value if we try!” To explore more on this topic, visit ScoopUSA Media - March 26, 2021 - page 12.

God (Allah) Knows

The only way I can continue in this walk, striving to improve daily to reflect God (Allah), is because God (Allah) knows. He knows! God (Allah) understands what you and I are facing! He knows the struggles we endure! We must learn to place our total trust and faith in God (Allah) without wavering. According to Webster’s dictionary, the term 'wavering' is defined as being undecided between two opinions or courses of action: being irresolute.

I appreciate when someone can make a decision and stand firm on that choice. I admire those who speak truth to power and do not recant when faced with pressure. Webster’s dictionary defines 'recant' as saying that one no longer holds an opinion or belief, especially one considered heretical. The rulers during the times of the Prophets viewed them as heretical! The rulers during the time of Jesus thought He was heretical! What did Jesus say that was wrong? What did Jesus do that was wrong? What did any of the Prophets do that was wrong?
